Program goals
- Reduce parenting stress and parental reactivity to stress
- Reduce child(ren) behavioral and emotional problems
- Improve parent’s parenting style and emotional coping
- Learn ways to resolve conflicts better with the child(ren)
- Learn to love and to take better care of self as well as the child(ren)
What is special about our program?
- Pre-group interview: we conduct pre-group interviews and assessment to better understand
- each family’s situation in order to tailor the program content to fit parents’ needs
- Post-group feedback: We provide follow-up session and post-group assessment to evaluate the
- effectiveness of the program and the experience of the parents during and after the group
- When necessary, we will provide further individual consultation and counselling services after
- the program
- The program and its activities are evidence-based
Activities included in the program
- Techniques: Bodyscan; Mindfulness meditation (on breathing, body, sounds, thoughts, and
- emotions); Mindful seeing; Mindful walking; Yoga
- Everyday mindfulness exercises (focusing on day-to-day parenting and family activities)
- Short self-compassion practices throughout 8 weeks (loving-kindness meditation)
- Parent’s recognition of their parenting pattern related to their past experience
- Parenting skill exercises
- Exercises to help parents reconnect emotionally with their child after conflicts.
Our program details
- Number of session: 8 sessions
- Duration of session: 3 hours
- Numbers of participants: 8 - 16 parents (Targeting full-time or working parents with parental stress)
- Languages: Cantonese, English, or Putonghua
